Sharon Lai
Sharon qualified as a solicitor in March 2006. Sharon joined DKLM in October 2011 and was promoted to a Partner in September 2016.
Sharon specialises in and covers all aspects of both non contentious commercial property and residential transactions. In particular, she regularly deals with drafting and negotiating of new leases, deeds of variations, deeds of surrender, licence for alterations, security deeds. She also deals with purchases and sales, the assignment of leases/businesses and statutory declarations together with refinancing, assignment of contracts and splitting of legal titles.
Sharon relishes helping her clients see transactions progress from the very initial heads of terms stages to the ultimate hand over day, and meticulously managing the process throughout. Sharon is strong on policy and procedure and advises in a clear manner.
She acts for a wide range of clients, including overseas investors, companies and banks, covering food establishments, public houses, retail shops, offices and warehouses to prestigious new build properties and development portfolios.
Sharon is a British-born Chinese with a passion for the Chinese language and Chinese culture; she is fluent in and very much enjoys communicating in Cantonese and Mandarin on a daily basis.
Sharon is the first female Partner at DKLM and has shown her keenness to see true equal opportunities for women by taking on a Trustee & Director role in June 2016 with her chosen charity, Mulan Foundation Network. The aim of Mulan Foundation Network is to honour and recognise the successes of Chinese women worldwide and to encourage and mentor those on their way up.
Outside the office Sharon enjoys a refreshing swim and hiking.
