Richard is a Partner and heads up the firm’s Corporate Commercial Department.

Richard qualified in 1999. He has been a partner in London and regional firms since 2007, heading small and medium size departments, save for a five year period practising in the Middle East for the Dubai-headquartered largest law firm in the Middle East.

Richard has both broad and in-depth experience across both transactional corporate matters, including cross-border M&A and distressed and special situation deals, and complex commercial matters, including sophisticated joint venture arrangement and technical intellectual property protection and exploitation arrangements. Richard has through his career acted for every conceivable size of client, from state-owned enterprises and PLC multinationals to start-ups and high growth entrepreneurial businesses and individuals, active in almost every economic sector. Richard also regularly assists client with the disposal of complex commercial disputes in order to avoid costly litigation, including employment disputes and technical commercial contract claims.

Whether drafting the key documentation for billion-dollar joint ventures, negotiation and documenting a series A investment round for a high growth tech company, acquiring from administrators by way of pre-pack or buying or selling companies and businesses, Richard strives to provide pragmatic and commercially focussed advice and solutions to best advance his clients’ commercial and economic interest.
