Maurice is a Senior Associate in the Commercial Property Team at DKLM.
Following a career in the procurement, management and delivery of commercial construction projects, Maurice qualified as a solicitor in March 2015 and quickly recognised that a technical understanding of his clients' work provided a unique and invaluable foresight towards their legal matters. Clients appreciate Maurice's additional perspective, and interest, on matters beyond solely the legal aspects of their businesses.
Maurice acts in connection with all transactional property and construction related matters and has expertise in the acquisition and disposal of development sites, commercial lettings and secured lending. He is also experienced in the preparation, review and negotiation of construction contracts and ancillary documents, including consultants’ appointments and collateral warranties.
Maurice frequently act for developers on both residential and mixed-use schemes, negotiating conditional contracts, planning agreements, promotion agreements, options, overage agreements, and all other aspects of development transactions.
Additionally, Maurice acts for several landlords with sizeable portfolios and prepares and negotiates leases for their retail, office and light industrial units, also dealing with various licences and supplemental documents. Similarly, he advises tenants who wish to take leases; from sophisticated entertainment, retail and leisure businesses with expanding portfolios, to smaller and new businesses, in some instances, clients taking a lease for the first time.
Maurice also act for banks and lending institutions and advise them as to their security on purchases, refinances, and developments.
Away from the office, Maurice is married and his young children keep him busy. In his limited spare time, he enjoys gardening and studying history.
