Alan has been the firm’s Managing Partner since its inception and with the assistance of his partners decides upon the firm’s direction and strategy.
He studied at the LSE and qualified as a solicitor in 1988 after training with City firm Lewis Silkin. He was the Head of the Landlord and Tenant Litigation Department at his previous firm and also heads this department at DKLM. He is an experienced property litigator with extensive knowledge of all aspects of contentious landlord and tenant issues (both commercial and residential) providing clients with both practical and tactical advice on lease renewals, rent reviews, dilapidation claims, releasing/varying restrictive covenants, forfeiture actions and claims against original tenants, guarantors and intermediate assignees. He also advises residential landlords on service charge disputes and tenant defaults including possession claims and associated insolvency claims.
Alan writes articles on specialist topics and is regularly invited to present seminars on landlord and tenant and property related matters to clients and other property professionals. He is a member of the Property Litigation Association.
Cycling is one of his passions - (which is his main mode of transport to and from work) - and in July you will usually find him in the Pyrenees or the French Alps following the Tour de France. He supports Hull City and Arsenal.
